ตามมติคณะรัฐมนตรีในการประชุมเมื่อวันที่ 10 พฤษภาคม 2537 ได้กำหนดให้วันที่ 2 กุมภาพันธ์ ของทุกปีเป็น “วันนักประดิษฐ์” เพื่อน้อมรำลึกถึงวันประวัติศาสตร์ในการทูลเกล้าฯ ถวายสิทธิบัตรการประดิษฐ์ “เครื่องกลเติมอากาศที่ผิวน้ำหมุนช้าแบบทุ่นลอย” หรือ “กังหันน้ำชัยพัฒนา” แด่ พระบาทสมเด็จพระบรมชนกาธิเบศร มหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตร “พระบิดาแห่งการประดิษฐ์ไทย” ซึ่งเป็นสิทธิบัตรในพระปรมาภิไธยพระมหากษัตริย์พระองค์แรกของไทย และเป็นครั้งแรกของโลก รวมทั้งทรงเป็นแบบอย่างที่ดีแก่นักประดิษฐ์ไทยในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานสิ่งประดิษฐ์ที่ช่วยแก้ไขปัญหาให้กับประชาชนและสังคมส่วนรวมได้อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม ทั้งนี้ สำนักงานการวิจัยแห่งชาติ (วช.) กระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัยและนวัตกรรม ได้ร่วมกับสถาบันการศึกษา หน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชน จัดงาน “วันนักประดิษฐ์” ประจำปี 2568 ขึ้น เพื่อนำเสนอสิ่งประดิษฐ์และนวัตกรรมพร้อมใช้และความก้าวหน้าด้านการประดิษฐ์คิดค้นของประเทศ และผลักดันให้เกิดการขยายผลและนำไปใช้ประโยชน์ในมิติต่าง ๆ โดยสอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายของยุทธศาสตร์ชาติระยะ 20 ปี (พ.ศ. 2561 – 2580) และ…
